Pooh Shiesty’s Team Files Emergency Motion Over 23-Hour Cell Lockdown
Pooh Shiesty’s legal team filed an emergency motion on October 15 claiming he is locked in his cell for 23 hours a day at the Rolling Plains Regional Detention Center in Haskell, Texas. He is reportedly held in solitary confinement while awaiting trial for the alleged robbery and kidnapping of Gucci Mane.
Kent Schaffer said, “Although he has not been convicted or involved in any type of violent acts in jail, he is locked down 23 hours per day and only allowed two hours of visitation per month.” Schaffer added that “Pre-trial incarceration is not supposed to be punitive” and that the team is “trying to get the court to step in and put an end to it.”
The attorney alleges that Pooh Shiesty has no disciplinary infractions at the facility despite being confined to his cell for approximately 23 hours per day.
He was told the isolation is for his own protection, but he was not given an individualized, documented explanation for the restrictive housing. Pooh Shiesty’s legal team said, “He has not been told who or what poses a threat to him. No one has explained why confining him to his cell 23 hours per day is necessary to address it.”
The motion states that Pooh Shiesty has experienced increasing anxiety and difficulty sleeping as a result of the isolation. His aunt said, “[I’ve] seen Lontrell decline mentally and emotionally since he was moved to the jail in Haskell. He is worn down, extremely anxious, and seems severely depressed from being locked in a small room for most of the day, every day, with only two hours per month to see a family member in person.”
Pooh Shiesty’s lawyers claim the Rolling Plains Regional Jail is granting him only two visitation hours per month, which is less than the four mandated by the Bureau of Prisons. His family traveled from Memphis, Tennessee, to visit him on August 27, but the visit was cut short after approximately one hour because his girlfriend had reportedly used one hour of the monthly allowance earlier in August.
Pooh Shiesty’s attorney argues that the confinement conditions could violate his due process rights as a pretrial detainee who has not been convicted.
Pooh Shiesty, his father Big30, and six other men are accused of luring Gucci Mane to a Dallas recording studio in January and forcing him to release Pooh from his recording contract at gunpoint. Pooh Shiesty was arrested on April 1 of 2026.
His trial is currently scheduled for February 22, 2027, after his request for bond was denied for a third time in July.
