Chance The Rapper Wins $1.5 Million Judgment Against Former Manager
Chance The Rapper, born Chancelor Bennett, secured a $1.5 million judgment against his former manager Pat Corcoran in a second trial on October 13, 2026, in Cook County Circuit Court. Hanlon Jr. ruled that Corcoran breached his duties to the artist by seeking side payments from merchandise vendors without telling him.
The court ordered Corcoran to return undisclosed merchandise profits, including vendor commissions and merchandise-related management fees. Chance The Rapper said, “I’m grateful to finally close this chapter of my life and can’t wait to eventually tell my side of the story.”
Judge Hanlon found that Patrick “Pat” Corcoran improperly received kickbacks from merchandise vendors while simultaneously receiving management compensation from Chance The Rapper. The judge ordered Corcoran to surrender secret funds and refund the 15% commissions he earned on merchandise during the period of the breach.
Corcoran and his company Pat The Manager, LLC must transfer ownership of the ChanceRaps.com domain to Chance The Rapper within 14 days.
Pat Corcoran’s spokesperson said, “The court ruled there is no basis for Chance’s claim of more than $10 million in damages.” Judge Hanlon rejected Chance The Rapper’s request that Corcoran forfeit all past compensation, preserving payment for work outside the disputed merchandise arrangements.
Jacobs said, “We are pleased with the Court’s thorough and thoughtful opinion that confirms what Chance has maintained from day one: that Patrick Corcoran owed him fiduciary duties while he was serving as Chance’s manager and that he violated those duties in multiple ways over an extended period.”
Chance The Rapper and Patrick “Pat” Corcoran worked together from 2012 to 2020 without a written contract. Corcoran filed a lawsuit in 2020 after Chance The Rapper fired him that April.
In the March 2026 trial, a jury rejected Corcoran’s $3.8 million demand for unpaid commissions. The jury awarded Chance The Rapper $35 on his own counterclaims for breach of contract and tortious interference.
A status hearing is set for November 30, 2026, to address the final figures of the judgment. It is possible that additional interest might be added to the final judgment against Corcoran.
