Fallon Jokes About Jay-Z Reportedly Picking Himself for 2027 “Super Bowl” Halftime
Jimmy Fallon joked on the October 20, 2026 episode of “Tonight Show” about reports that Jay-Z picked himself for the 2027 “Super Bowl” halftime show. A Puck report on October 20, 2026, cited multiple inside sources claiming Jaÿ-Z chose himself to perform at the “Super Bowl LXI” halftime show in 2027.
The booking of Jaÿ-Z for the 2027 “Super Bowl” halftime show has not been officially confirmed by the NFL or Roc Nation. Fallon joked, “Jay-Z didn’t want to pick himself, but then Jay-Z suggested it and Jay-Z was like, ‘I guess Jay-Z does have a point.”
Roc Nation may have used a mirror to select the talent for the next year’s Super Bowl halftime show. Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus were also reportedly in the mix to headline the Super Bowl halftime show.
Fallon said, “I read that Jay-Z has reportedly picked himself to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.”
If the report is true, it would be Jay-Z’s first time on the Super Bowl stage in his four-decade career. He would be the first rapper to headline the halftime show since Kendrick Lamar in 2025.
Jaÿ-Z has been involved in the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019, when Roc Nation signed a reported $5 million-a-year deal with the NFL to curate and produce the performance. The reported booking coincides with the 30th anniversary of the album “Reasonable Doubt” and the 25th anniversary of the album “The Blueprint.”
Jaÿ-Z is scheduled to perform two nearly sold-out shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., where the Super Bowl will take place on Feb. 14, 2027.
In September 2026, claims emerged that the NFL and Roc Nation were having trouble securing a solo headliner, with suggestions that Jaÿ-Z may be performing alongside special guests.
