Maria Avila Asks Judge for Arrest Warrant Against Chris Brown
Chris Brown’s former housekeeper, Maria Avila, is asking a judge to issue an arrest warrant against the singer. According to court documents, Avila asked the court to issue an arrest warrant for Chris Brown based on his failure to lock down dates for her to examine his financial situation. Both outlets published their reports on October 12, 2026.
Maria Avila claims Chris Brown has refused to provide dates for a court examination. The examination would require Brown to appear with bank records.
Maria Avila claims the financial information Chris Brown’s side has produced is incomplete. The incompleteness, Avila says, is particularly regarding payment sources connected to his touring income.
Avila’s statement “calls into question the accuracy and completeness of [Chris’] disclosure with respect to payment sources associated with his ongoing tour.”
Chris Brown objected to the request to pursue his tour income and royalties, arguing that the request swept too broadly across his current and future earnings. Brown also argued that his touring schedule made it difficult for him to appear for a financial examination.
Days after allowing Avila to pursue tour income, the judge denied Chris Brown’s request for additional time to turn over information about his income.
The collection fight stems from Maria Avila’s lawsuit over a 2020 dog attack at Chris Brown’s Los Angeles home. A jury found Chris Brown liable earlier in 2026 and initially awarded Maria Avila $12.9 million.
A judge reduced the award to $9.5 million after finding insufficient evidence to support portions of the damages award. Maria Avila accepted the reduced $9.5 million amount rather than proceed to a new trial on damages.
In August 2026, a Los Angeles judge allowed Maria Avila to pursue Chris Brown’s tour income and royalties as part of her collection efforts. A judge has not granted Maria Avila’s request for an arrest warrant.
What is your view on Maria Avila’s request for an arrest warrant against Chris Brown in the $9.5 million collection case?
